The Times covered marriage tax allowance today outlining how Tory backbenchers were planning to ambush the Government over introducing a tax break for married couples.
Julianne Marriott, campaign director of Don’t Judge My Family, was quoted in the article saying that the amendment was “out of step with modern families”.
“The Government shouldn’t use the tax system to promote their fantasy Fifties family. We believe instead of judging families they should be helping them, all of them, whatever shape or size they come in. That includes the one in four children living with their hard-working single parent, widows and widowers, committed cohabiting couples and families where both parents have to go out to work.”
