Autumn statement to include a marriage tax allowance

It is being reported today that the Chancellor has confirmed his “absolute commitment” to a marriage tax allowance, stating “I think you can expect to see it in the Autumn Statement”.

Only two weeks ago the Chancellor cut £11.5bn worth of public spending. Now it seems that he’s willing to spend half a billion on sending a message, that even proponents admit won’t make any difference.
