Fraser Nelson writing in the Spectator says it’s “only” £600 million to provide those families that have a wedding ring £150 a year through a marriage tax allowance.
What? Has he not heard of the age of austerity?! Quite aside from the obvious – the fact that the marriage tax allowance would discriminate against single parent families, widows, unmarried couples and couples where both work – we are convinced that there are far better ways of spending over half a billion pounds that could help all families. We’d like to hear your suggestions.
