Labour promises to scrap Marriage Tax Allowance
The Labour Party has pledged to scrap the marriage tax allowance, calling it “perverse and unfair”. Instead, they would use the money to reinstate the 10p tax band. We hope that the Labour Party continue to put pressure on the Chancellor to scrap the marriage tax allowance and keep it out of his budget next week. It is unfair on the 1 in 4 kids who grow up in a single parent family, cohabiting couples, widows and widowers and those couples where both, or neither, work.
Last year, our friends and supporters came up with 24 better things the government could spend £700m on to help families rather than judging them. You can find out more about them here.
