Vince Cable speaks out against marriage tax breaks

Vince Cable distanced the Liberal Democrats from the marriage tax allowance in an article in the Guardian today.

Advocating a reduction in national insurance contributions to help employers increase wages he added: ”That would be a far better option for tax cuts than the Tories’ marriage tax allowance.”

We’re glad to see prominent Lib Dems again express their frustration with the unfairness of the marriage tax allowance. Let’s just hope they feel able to express that same sense of injustice in Parliament when George Osborne announces he’s introducing tax breaks for the married.
